Speaking from experience..survival kits/ packs: research...

As part of this brief, my idea was to design a kit for the new GD students, including items to inspire them, make them laugh and be useful to them. Below i have looked at existing survival kits/ packs that are already on the market, i want to focus on the content of the kits and how they are packaged and presented.

This pack is a college survival kit, im not really sure on what half the contents is, although i can see a small first aid kit, a screw driver and a light. I dont think that the contents of the box reflects well on the packaging, it all just seems a bit random. Although i do like the packaging design, it is fairly simple using photographic elements and block colour with the text stating what the box is.

I felt this one really reflected on its target audience. Using the cardboard box is very relevant for students when they have to pack to move away from home, i also like the way the label has been placed, almost like its just been slammed on the box, the typeface they have used looks very worn out and bold, which again i think reflects on the way a student lives. I dont know what comes inside the box though.

This pack is for Australia, it is a lot more light hearted than the other two above, although there is no image of the packaging, there is all the quirky contents to see. Things included are car stickers, warning signs about kangeroos, a cuddly toy and even a boomerang. Things that all shout Australia. Its all very eyecatching too because they have used the bright yellow a fair bit throughout the objects.

This one again is really funny, its a kit for a 21st birthday including things like a shot glass, a bottle opener, a fake ID, a parking card and a badge. The colours have been kept vibrant and young to reflect on partying and the age, this would help to appeal to the target audience. The packaing is just a plastic case, so on this one the contents is more important.

This is a new wife kit, including things such as a manicure set, a t-shirt, stockings and a few other bits and bobs. I like how they have used a stylish bag for the packaging, i think it makes it more appealing to the target audience. It's very feminine and girly.
